Neirus
Salvatore Sorrentino, better known as Neirus, is an Italian artist who embodies the union between mystery and popular culture. Born in Formia in 1982, after having lived in Berlin, he currently resides mainly in Rome. His artistic adventure began at an early age, when his passion for art led him to graduate in ceramics at the Art Institute. To perfect his talent, Neirus continued his training at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, where he obtained top marks in decoration. His skills were further refined through courses with prestigious teachers, including masters in academic painting with Roberto Ferri and Michelangelo della Morte.

His debut on the art scene was marked by the event “I Love Candies”, curated by the famous Dorothy Circus Gallery in Rome, which catapulted him into the vibrant world of pop surrealism. Since then, Neirus has been able to conquer galleries around the world and attract the attention of collectors of international fame, participating in national and international exhibitions always with the Dorothy Circus Gallery in London, presenting his works at the Luz de Jesus, as well as solo exhibitions at the Cart Gallery and the Curio Gallery and institutional events such as the Casa del Conte Verde in Rivoli.
For several years he has participated in many events at the Afnakafna Gallery and, above all, he has created a prolific partnership with the Artesse Gallery, curating memorable events such as Fenice, Small Nightmare before Christmas, About Daburu and Peccati Blu. Not only an artist but also an inspired curator, Neirus holds the role of artistic director of the Bar Gallery.
His works are not only exhibited in galleries, but also adorn prestigious hotels in Italy and abroad, furthermore, his talent has also reached the publishing world, illustrating some books including “Alice in the Tea and That Which Didn’t Happen”.
Neirus’ works represent a fascinating combination of surreal imagery and Italian artistic tradition. His paintings, whether oil on canvas or delicate watercolors, evoke dreamlike landscapes in which fairy-tale elements intertwine with a palpable nostalgia. The choice of gothic and magical themes, often tinged with melancholy, gives his creations an emotional depth that captures the observer.
Each character portrayed by Neirus has an intense personality, often accompanied by a story that stimulates the imagination and invites reflection. His meticulous technique offers a detailed rendering that makes each work unique. Even the carefully designed frames are not simple supports, but an integral part of the visual dialogue, adding a further layer of meaning and beauty.
The experience of observing Neirus’ works goes beyond the mere act of viewing; is an opportunity to explore a world where dream and reality intertwine, inviting the viewer to lose themselves in an emotional journey full of poetry. With a touch of mystery and the ability to evoke deep feelings, Neirus’ art is an invitation to be transported by an imaginary universe, full of stories to discover and
interpret.
